Perforated band for electrodes to make electrical batteries, with rectangular perforation holes in parallel rows where every other perforation hole in the same row has upward bent tongues from one flat side of the band and the intervening perforation holes have upward bent tongues from the other side of the band. The relative hole area for the perforated portion of the band can amount to 30-80 percent. The perforation method involves use of punching sets, which simultaneously work from both sides of the band. Each punching set consists of a number of punches in the form of planar lengths having projecting teeth with angular tip directed at the band, so that a cutting edge is formed at the end of each tooth directed at the band. Each tooth on a punch at one side of the band is directed during the punching toward the space between two teeth on a punch at the other side of the band.
