<p>The screwed joint seal is particularly for pipe unions. It has a hard metal washer round the screwed stem and between the parts to be joined, and which has wedge-shaped sealing surfaces on its end faces. The space inside the washer (12) is enclosed by a cone face (10,11) tapering in the pressure direction of the seal, and accommodates a sealing ring (7) of elastic material, typically an O-ring of diameter greater than the clear diameter of the space inside the washer. The cone face can be in two parts, the lower part (11) being less steep and forming a support for the inserted O-ring.</p> |
