NEW MATERIAL:A peptide AN-2 containing at least 2-amino-3-guanido-propionic acid, having a molecular weight measured by gel filtration using [biogel P-2] of 1.1X 10<3>. Properties of peptide AN-2. Ninhydrin reaction: positive. Forming 2- amino- 3-guanido-propionic acid by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid and unidentified substance which becomes positive in ninhydrin reaction. Soluble in an alochol and water, slightly soluble in n-butanol, acetone, etc. Its infrared spectrum is shown by the fig. USE:A drug having antitumor activities and antimicrobial activities. Having higher competence, which makes a normal cell 3T3 damage selectively cells prepared by transforming Swiss mouce fibroblast 3T3 with virus SV-40, than bleomycin. PROCESS:A bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces, e.g., Streptomyces nojiriensis C-13 (FERM-P5488) etc. is cultured, and the titled compound is collected from the culture solution. |
