BROADCASTING RECEIVER AND METHOD FOR FAST SEARCHING DIGITAL MULTIMEDIA BROADCASTING CHANNEL

A broadcasting receiving apparatus and method for fast searching of a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) channel are provided to rapidly search broadcasting channels by using information on the number of services included in broadcasting signals. A broadcasting receiving apparatus includes a tuner(120), a broadcasting signal processor(130), and a controller(140). The tuner tunes one of a plurality of channels and outputs one of a plurality of DMB signals received through the tuned channel. The broadcasting signal processor processes the DMB signal output from the tuner and analyzes information on the number of services included in the DMB signal. The controller counts the number of services included in the DMB signal, compares the counted number with the number of services included in the analyzed information, and controls the tuner according to the comparison result to control scanning of the DMB signal.
