Producing steam-cured aerated concrete where the slurry contains or has added to it a dispersing agent formed from one or more 10-20C C10-C20 alkyl carboxylic acid and one or more ethanolamines. The carboxylic acid may be mono unsatd. e.g. oleic. They may also be refined or unrefined tall oil acids or naphtenic acid from petroleum refining. The amine, which is pref. triethanolamine, is pref in 1.5 to 4 times stoichiometric excess, pref. threefold excess over the acid. The dispersant is added at 0.01 to 0.3% on dry material. The fly ash can contain up to 30% unburnt carbon. (Provisional Basic previously advised in week 8904) |
