The thermostat valve is adjusted by an electric motor switched via a timer, the entire circuit being battery-operated. The timer and the thermostat valve are contained within separate housings (1,2) with complementary formations around all four sides of each, to allow them to be fitted together one above the other or side-by-side in either order. The electrical connection between the two housings is provided by a cable (3) or by cooperating contacts around the housing sides. The housing (1) for the thermostat valve incorporates the supply battery as well as the setting motor and has a rotary scale with two spaced switch riders (13,14) for setting the upper and lower temp. limits. The timer has a 24 hour time scale (7) with an indicator (6) for the actual time and circular switch riders (5).
