PURPOSE:To suppress the dispersion of energy to improve the efficiency of cutting, by introducing a beam into the end face of a rotating workpiece in parallel with the axis of the rotation. CONSTITUTION:A high-energy-density beam produced by a beam generator is introduced into one end face of a bar-shaped workpiece 1. A tool 2 whose tip is like a cutting edge is provided behind the position of the introduction of the beam to break off the melt-cut part 3 of the workpiece 1. Since the end face of the workpiece 1 which is irradiated with the beam is perpendicular to the direction of the introduction of the beam, the beam can be continuously irradiated upon the workpiece 1 in parallel with the axis of the rotation of the workpiece 1 without reducing the high energy density of the beam. |
