PURPOSE:A polyolefin composition with high flame retardancy, obtd. by compounding a polyolefin with specified amounts of magnesium hydroxide and an org. bromine compd. having a benzene nucleus directly bonded with a bromine atom. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. Polyolefin (A) such as polyethylene or polypropylene is compounded with 50-200pts.wt. magnesium hydroxide (B) and 5-80wt%, based on the component B, of an org. bromine compd. (C) (e.g., hexabromobenzene, tetrabromotoluene, tribromoxylene or decabromodiphenyl ether) having a benzene nucleus directly bonded with a bromine atom. Pref. 10-100wt%, based on the component C, of antimony trioxide is compounded additionally, to obtain the purpose composition. The composition gives a molded product with excellent flame retardancy and dimensional stability, and high rigidity. |
