<p>A system for converting waste materials including solid refuse and microbial refuse into useful products for fuel and agricultural applications. A mixture of solid refuse and sewage sludge having a predetermined mixture content is compacted under controlled pressure conditions to form substantially rectangular-shaped blocks (1), each of which is provided with an open air channel (3) across at least one face (5) thereof to provide enhanced air circulation through a stack of such blocks so that efficient and complete aerobic fermentation of the biodegradable materials is realized. </p> |
