Slide fastener stringers having a row of individual coupling members 2 mounted on at least one carrier cord 3 secured to a woven support tape 5 by weft threads 7 engaging the cord between adjacent coupling members have a section of coupling members removed by locating the stringer on a work-table 8 having an aperture 11; a reciprocable ejector 10 incorporates a series of cutting blades 13 which operate centrally between the coupling members to sever the cord 3 and the members are then removed from the tape by portions 14 of the ejector. The blades lie parallel to the weft so that only the cord is severed without damage to the weft.
