Pharmaceutical compositions having anti-ulcer activity, containing as an active ingredient a compound of the formula (I): <IMAGE> (I) wherein Het is a pyridinyl group, Ar is a phenyl or a 5- or 6-membered monocyclic heteroaromatic group, and R is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cyanoalkyl, carbamidoalkyl or aminoalkyl group, or an N-oxide thereof.
