PURPOSE:To enhance the heat resistance by connecting a quartz lens for converging incident light to the tip of optical fibers and fixing the outsides of the lens and the tip with a quartz fixer provided with a light shielding layer on the outside. CONSTITUTION:Quartz lens 3 is connected and fixed to the tip of optical fibers 1 with quartz fixer 2. To integrally fix lens 3 to front end 2a of fixer 2 and fibers 1 to rear end 2b a heat-resistant adhesive usable up to about 2,400 deg.C is used. The outside and the rear end of fixer 2 are covered with metal cover 4 made of ''Invar '' or the like. The cover layer of fibers 1 is formed by burying metal wires 1b in heat- resistant layer 1a composed of quartz glass fibers in the longitudinal direction and covering layer 1a with heat-resistant corrugated sheath 1c. Wire 1b is made of Invar or the like. Thus, the heat resistance of the resulting optical device can be enhanced.
