The equipment utilises environmental energy for heating, the working medium being heated or vapourised in a heat exchanger exposed to the atmosphere. The energy thus absorbed may be used in a heat pump. The heat exchanger comprises two or more horizontal plates (2) made of sheet metal, in which a number of passages (3) running in the lengthwise direction are formed to guide the medium. The plates are arched in the transverse direction, roof-shaped, and/or inclined to the horizontal, being at a constant distance apart of at least 100mm. They can be inclined in the lengthwise direction.
