<p>The safety system for a room housing high voltage switchgear (16 to 18) has shutters (20) in an opening (20) in a wall and another shutter (27) in a roof opening (25) which are operated in the event of a dangerous arc emission from the switchgear. Above the switchgear cabinets are detectors (34, to36) connected to electromagnets (31,32) which respectively control the operation of the shutters. The operating mechanisms can incorporate energy storage devices such as springs or weights or pneumatic devices to give a quick action. Each switching cabinet can contain an arc intensity sensor connected by a control line to a pressure sensor connected by further control lines to the shutter actuator mechanisms.</p> |
