FACTORY-BUILT INSULATED CABLE AND TERMINATION SYSTEM

This invention relates to a new cable system with a continuous spacer and pressurized gas for the insulation which is coilable on a reel. The system is factory-built with a cable, pipe, and terminations ready for use. The purpose of the invention is to provide a low-loss and low-cost energy conservative cable. This is made possible by a large, low-loss conductor of aluminum tubes filled with sodium, low-loss pressurized SF6 gas with a continuous crepe paper spacer for the insulation, and a lossless, insulating non-metallic coilable pipe which is loose-fit and serves as an insulating barrier at terminations. The system is factory tested, shipped, and installed under the same pressure.
