<p>The metal conductors of an electric cable are insulated with a compsn. comprising a mixt. of EVA copolymer contg. 40-80wt.% vinyl acetate and chlorinated polyethylene contg. 20-45wt.% chlorine, the total amt. of chlorine in the compsn. being not more than 15wt.% w.r.t. the polymers. These comprise 75(or 70) pts.(wt.) EVA copolymer contg. 70% vinyl acetate, 25(or 30) pts. chlorinated polyethylene contg. 36% chlorine, 20 pts. C black, 12 pts. silica, 35 pts. talc, 8 pts. Sb2O3, 1 pt. polymerised trimethyldihydroquinoline, 10(or 15) pts. ditridecyl phthalate, 10(or 0) pts. tribasic Pb sulphate, 0(or 5) pt. Pb phthalate, 2 pts. Pb stearate, 1 pt. vinyl silane, 1 (or 0.5) pt. triallylcyanurate and 7 pts. 1,3 bis(t-butylisopropyl) benzene peroxide at 40%. The cable has good flame resistance and generates little smoke and toxic and corrosive gases.</p> |
