REMOVAL OF ORGANIC SULFUR COMPOUND IN GAS

PURPOSE:To enable to deodorize and remove an org. sulfur compound with an inexpensive stock material and to apply a waste acid sludge of an industrial waste material to public pollution treatment by contacting a deodorizing agent containing loess and the waste acid sludge as available components with a bad smelling gas under a high temp. condition. CONSTITUTION:A deodorizing agent layer formed by packing the deodorizing agent obtained by a method wherein a molding auxiliary agent is mixed in loess or/ and the dried waste acid sludge and the resulting mixture is granulated and molded is heated to raise a temp. of said layer. A preheated bad smelling gas containing an org. sulfur compound is passed through the deodorizing layer. The org. sulfur compound such as COS, CS2 or mercaptans is removed from the gas by contacting with the deodorizing agent to desulfurize and deodorize said gas. Thereby, the org. sulfur compound in a so called 1C gas based on CO or the like can be also removed effectively.
