PURPOSE:To exercies secure control over the density with miniature constitution by forming a standard image for controlling toner density in a prescribed region of a photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:On photoreceptor drum 1, a latent image is formed by reference image exposure to an area outside of a picture area in the moving direction of drum 1 in the picture area and then developed to form toner density control picture 22. The reflected light that corresponds to the toner density of this picture 22 is detected by light emitting and photodetecting elements 20 and 21 to control the toner density. Then, the toner density is securely controlled with the miniature constitution with the control picture obtained by forming and developing the latent image under the same conditions with a copy picture provided in an area where the copy picture is to be formed, so that the copy picture of good quality can be formed. |
