Wheel slip detector for traction locomotive - compares detected wheel rotations with reference rotation for imaginary running axis

The wheel slip detector compares the voltages proportional to the wheel rotation rate for each axis compared with reference voltages supplied by an integrator representing an imaginary running axis. The integrator is supplied with signals representing the acceleration or retardation of the locomotive together with the output of a comparator which provides the difference between a reference voltage and a selected wheel rotation proportional voltage. During propulsion the lowest voltage is used and the highest is used during braking. The output of each comparator for a respective wheel rotation proportional voltage is differentiated, the differential quotients fed to periodic function stages and then to multipliers for multiplying with the required acceleration or retardation value. The multiplier outputs comprise connected values for the required acceleration or retardation used for controlling the various axes.
