<p>The overhead transport system which enables very heavy loads to be suspended and rotated about a horizontal axis, has two carriages travelling on rails, each with a suspension loop for carrying the load. Each loop is rotated by a drive, for rotating the load, and one loop is longer than the other to suit irregular shapes. Each drive for a loop is mounted on a frame supported by vertical members from a carriage so that the drive can be raised or lowered as required to match the shape of the load. Height equalisation is controlled by a sensing device which is operated when both drives are operated in different directions. These drives also incorporate an over-running freewheel device.</p> |
