The table top for use in e.g. the garden, a campsite etc. has a wooden base with a waterproof cover on its top and bottom surfaces. It has a moulded plastics sealing strip round the periphery acting as a protecting frame. The edges of the table top, in profile, have notched grooves cut into them. These can have a variety of cross-sections including semi-lunar, saw-toothed or a plain V-notch. The application of a sealing strip with a complementary profile provides the table top with a secure edging.
