The vehicle door seal has a profiled strip (7) mounted around the edge of the door to press against a fixed sealing strip (1) fitted around the door frame. The profiled strip has at least two sloping faces (8,9) which match up with sloping faces in the hollow seal for a large area contact. The door strip is harder than the hollow seal, which includes an air cushion. The door seal is grooved (11) to fit around the profiled strip without requiring any complex tolerances. Different profiles of strip and seal can be used for even greater sealing area and noise reduction.
