<p>A multi-core flexible cord for the current supply to portable appliances, e.g. for domestic use on electric irons, toasters, electric blankets etc. consists of fine strands in each core, surrounded by conventional insulation and embedded in a sheath of an elastomer or plastomer material. This sheath which is applied continuously by an extruder is then coated with a heat-resistant adhesive and a layer of flocks, consisting of cotton, polyamide, glass fibres, etc., is applied. Such covering has a low coefficient of friction for easy sliding during ironing operations and has a high flexural strength.</p> |
