The vessel is pref vertical cylindrical and contains a vertical, coaxial, rotary shaft fitted with an agitator inthe form of impeller blades. The vertical shaft and the blades now have internal passages through which heat transfer fluids are circulated under pressure in order to warm or cool the contents of the vessel above the surface lever of the contents, the rotary shaft pref. has a rotary coupling with branch inlet and outlet for heat transfer fluid for circulation. The coupling pref. has a rotary inner member, integral with the shaft which contains inflow and return passages for heat transfer.
