<p>The cable sheath is an electrical conductor and supports, using diaphrams, a central conductor, isolation of the two conductors being by a gas under pressure. The sheath (22) has a circumferential outside rectangular section circumferential shoulder (32) drilled to allow it to be bolted to a further sheath section. The diaphragm (4) supporting the inner conductor (5) is held between adjacent shoulders and has an orthodox conical form. The shoulder is continued to the interior of the sheath by a steeply sloped, about 80 degrees face (66), this slope reverses its sign to return (64) to the sheath wall away from the shoulder at a shallow angle of about 30 degrees. The flange profile is such as to maintain any dust (7,8) in the cable in a dispersed or floating state when the cable is powered.</p> |
