The batten is adjustable by setscrews (a), which have a section (15) of increased dia. between the head (13) and the threaded part (17). This is insertable in the holes (10) on its bearing piece (7) and is rather longer than these holes. The batten is used for sealing wings of doors or windows by closing the bottom gap. Between these screw parts there is a tapered section (15), axially shorter than the nut (16), enabling the nut to be drawn tight, so as to secure the screw against unacceptable axial movement, in the bearing piece, while screw and nut remain rotatable in relation to the bearing piece. This retains the ability for screws to turn, while preventing axial displacement.
|
