The cine film copying system is intended to produce a copy of a silent film recorded at 16 frames per second, on sound film operating at 24 frames per second, without resultant jerkiness of movement. The projector (1) provides an image in the camera (2) via its objective lens (3). Rotating shutters (4,5) are positioned between the two, one to mask the frame changing of the film, and the other to control the exposure time. Stepping motors operating the projector and camera and the shutters are controlled by a coding system (6) acting on the motor's supply (7). The transfer from 16 f.p.s. to 24 f.p.s. each successive pair of frames (A,B) are mixed to form an intermediate frame, producing a final sequence comprising AA,AB,BB. This avoids the jerkiness produced by repeating one or other of the original frames to make up 24 f.p.s.
|
