Optical signal generation for plant layout display - activating display elements by signals transmitted over fibre optic cable from main control module

Layouts of plant equipment, such as railway system lay-outs, having symbols that are illuminated by generated signals are controlled by optical devices. A main control module (1) has a number of input relays coupled to optical signal generators (2), the signal outputs being coupled over fibre optical cables (4) to the various modules (6,7) that make up the system layout. By triggering the appropriate generators a pattern of rail traffic is established for display, or the position of points set.
