The engine has a circular rotor (2) turning with constant angular velocity. The rotor has two tangential recesses into which cylinders (4) are clamped. A piston (5) reciprocates in each cylinder. Each piston drives a planet wheel (7) through a crank mechanism (6). The planet wheels mesh with a sun wheel (8) on the rotor to translate the relative motion of the pistons and rotor into constant rotation of the rotor. Each cylinder has an extension pipe (9) the end of which moves across inlet and exhaust ports in the stationary casing end plates. The pistons have conventional piston rings and the rotor is easily sealed to the casing.
