<p>The hydraulic disc brake may be used on a free automobile wheel, using an axially displaceable circular plate (16) as a piston to push the brake lining (17) onto an inboard radial face (10) of the hub (2). A flanged (11) sleeve (9) houses the inboard end of the fixed axle (1) and also locates the piston (16) slidably on its barrel. An axial flange (21) projects from the rear piston face (15) to house the sleeve flange (11) and define a closed volume which constitutes the ram cylinder. Piston plate bore grooves (19, 22) locate sealing rings (18, 23) the hydraulic fluid being introduced through an internally threaded bore (25).</p> |
