Homogeneous blends of a trans-isomer of polyisoprene and process for their preparation.

A composition is disclosed comprising a homogeneous stable blend comprising a trans-isomer of poly(1,4-isoprene) and an ionomer with a cis isomer of natural or synthetic rubber. The blend is prepared by mixing under shear, and at a temperature in the range of at least about 82 DEG C, a trans-isomer of, e.g., natural rubber and an olefinic ionomer.
