OPENING MEANS FOR A PACKAGE OF FLEXIBLE MATERIAL

A package is made from flexible material with a pouring opening in its upper end wall adjacent an edge line. A U-shaped slot is provided in a side wall adjacent the edge line to form a pouring edge portion. Plastics sealing means inside the package cover the pouring opening and the slot. An outside cover strip can be pulled upwardly to uncover the pouring opening and the slot. The pouring edge portion can pivot upwardly into the plane of the upper end wall whereby liquid flowing out of the pouring opening transverses the edge portion and is thereby diverted from running down the side wall. The cover strip is attached at points which facilitate easy opening of the package, and lifting the pouring edge portion, without interference with good pouring characteristics.
