The i.c. engine carburettor includes a venturi of variable shape and cross-sectional flow area. At least part of the venturi consists of a readily deformable solid element (1) made of resilient material with a through-passage (14). To reduce the cross-section at the narrowest point (23) of the passage, the element can be compressed in the axial direction e.g. by an axially slidable bush (13) moved via a rack (16) and pinion (17), while its outward expansion is limited by the internal contour (18-20) of the housing (2) in which the element is contained. The element is pref. located via annual projections (7,12) in the housing (2) and on the bush engaging corresp. recesses (5,10) around the passage (14) at bottom and top of the element.
|
