The safety interlock for an engine braking control has a servo ram (3) on the linkage between the throttle pedal (1) and the fuel injection pump (8) to set the pump at idling speed when the brake operates, no matter how the throttle pedal is operated. The interlock operates using a servo pressure to displace a spring loaded piston (5). The linkage is moved to an isolating position by pulling the throttle pedal flat onto the bulkhead, and pulling the linkage to the idling setting.
