The water-closet pan has the rear walls specially contoured to produce a flushing eddy. The contouring is providing on the upper zone of the rear wall, providing a convex longitudinal flush water guide surface, and transforming the descending stream into a high energy eddy. The effect of the eddy is to push solid waste to the rear and down towards the rear extremity of the seal and, thus rapidly eject the solids from the basin. The inlets may be at the front or the rear of the pan and may be above or below the normal water line.
