The solar heating system using large area heat collectors has each collector formed by a set of parallel tubes (3) made of plastics film. By using short outer tubes and longer intermediate tubes, a circular heat collector can be constructed, carried by a ring shaped pneumatic tube (8) floating in liquid in a ring shaped trough (9) carried by a supporting structure (14,15). Each tube is filled with air kept at a suitable pressure, and contains a parabolic reflector (22) with an absorber (19) inside, have a set of heat exchanger tubes (20) and resting on an insulating strip (21). The collector can be easily rotated by a suitable drive, to follow the radiation of the sun.
