There is a spring unit with a connecting device linking it to a coupling bolt. It is followed by an impact-dissipating member, to absorb impact force in excess of the spring terminal force, in conjunction with a centre buffer coupling on railway rolling-stock. Between the connecting device and impact-dissipating member there is a compensating spring, held under pre-stressing and free from any impact forces that occur. This can be sited inside a tension cup, comprising the rear end of the spring unit, and braced against a collar on a pressure unit working in conjunction with the impact-dissipating member.
