PURPOSE:To obtain a spinnable material exhibiting high transmittance of carbon dioxide gas laser light of 10.6mum wavelength, having high thermal stability and resistant to crystallization and phase-separation, by specifying the contents of Al, As and Te used as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The infrared-transmission material contains 10-30atom.% of Al, 10-50atom.% of As and 30-60atom.% of Te as essential components. The material has fiber form having high transmittance of light of carbon dioxide gas laser having a wavelength of 10.6mum. Since the material is thermally stable, it can be spun without causing crystallization and phase-separation. A fiber having extremely low transmission loss of infrared ray can be produced by this process. |
