Crushed fibres are dispersed to form a sheet layer which is wide and of uniform thickness, and this is impregnated with an adhesive. The faces of the layer are then laminated with thin sheets of paper, and the laminate heated, compressed and shock-absorbing projections embossed on the surface. The laminating and subsequent steps are carried out simultaneously. The resulting soft fibrous sheet material is used for packing, building, etc. The fibrous material includes wood pulp, waste paper, etc.
