<p>The domestic electric heater comprises a rectangular casing inthe base of which is a water storage tank (3). Inside the tank are two perforated metal discs forming electrodes. These two are connected to the two sides of the mains electrical supply so that current flows through the water, heating it. The storage tank opens into the upper part of the heater which has parallel upright radiating fins (7) on either side of the casing. In the top of the casing there is a safety valve (8) allowing the relief of excess pressure should over-heating occur. The current flow is controlled by a thermostat (9) in the base of the heater. The heater is easily portable, and does not have a delicate metal element liable to be damaged.</p> |
