摘要 <p>Waveguide elements are produced by deposition of a metal such as copper through electroplating on a core with a conductive surface. Flush fitting flanges are applied to the core ends, and the prodn. of the waveguide wall is combined with the embedment of the flanges in the tube wall. The core is pref. made of polymethacrylic acid ester. Pref. a core (1) which has been made conductive on the surface is chilled and fitted with flanges (2,3) consisting of copper or brass which fit tightly when the core reaches room temp. again. A metal layer (4), pref. copper, is electroplated in a bath to form the wall thickness and a metallic joint at the areas (5,6) between tube and flanges. This produces waveguide elements economically and without offset between tube and flanges. The risk of distortion is eliminated. The joint is stronger than a brazed joint.</p>
