PURPOSE:To prevent ink from being dried and thereby eliminate the faulty discharge of a nozzle by providing an ink-adsorbing mechanism in a capping device covering the tip of an ink-jet recording head. CONSTITUTION:By turning a lever 5 manually counterclockwise, an elastic cap 9 positioned at the tip of a cap slide 4 is pressed on the recording head 1 to close up the nozzle 3 thereof. Simultaneously, the nozzle 3 is faced with an ink-adsorbing body 6 positioned in the rear of the cap 9, whereby the drying is prevented. When the faulty discharge of ink occurs owing to the generation of air bubbles and the like, the negative pressure is generated in a vacant space 36 by pushing down a piston 23 and the ink in the tip of the nozzle 3 is adsorbed by the negative pressure, and thus the ink is discharged outside of the nozzle 3. |
