The air cooled i.c. engine has a light alloy cylinder head (3) mounted on the cylinder (2). The tension bolts (8) which attach the cylinder to the crank case have a cylindrical head (10) with an internal hexagon (11) and an internal thread (12). The cylinder head is attached by tension bolts (14) which screw into thread (12). The bolts (14) only carry the loads acting on the cylinder head and can therefore be of smaller diameter than bolts of one piece construction.
