<p>Centring device for endless belts in machines for the drying of skins and hides is based on two hydraulic cylinders which are attached to the ends of the tensioning roll. Contact feelers at each selvedge can actuate solenoid valves, when contacted by the belt, which sets a hydraulic control valve to pass hydraulic fluid to opposite ends of the hydraulic cylinders. This moves the tensioning roller askew so that the belt slides towards the centre and, in freeing the feeler, cuts off the hydraulic supply. This system can deal even with thick felt belts which are axially loaded by forces depending on the thickness and compsn. of the hides. It is partic. effective if the correction takes place at right angles to the plane of the two rolls.</p> |
