The probe for continuous measurement of the level, and in partic. the temp., of the fluid in a container is esp. for petrol station tanks. It has a guide for a float (48) which follows the fluid level inside the tank and an external magnetic system (41). The resistance of a resistance-level transducer (3) extending over at least the measurement level range inside the guide varies with the level. The resistance variation is achieved with minimal circuitry and the assembly costs are low. A pick-off element (70) inside the guide is moved by the float (40) magnetic system (41) outside the guide and causes the resistance value of the transducer (3) to vary with level. It has an internal magnetic system (71) interacting with the external one (41). The guide is gastight and contains a temp. sensor.
