1289305 Conjugate polyester filaments IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 Nov 1969 [28 Nov 1968] 56474/68 Heading B5B [Also in Division C3] A copolyester derived from at least one dicarboxylic acid, a poly(alkylene oxide) and at least one other glycol is spun as the sheath of a sheath-core yarn through a spinneret having 36 circular holes of 0À015 inches diameter using poly(ethylene terephthalate) of viscosity ratio 1À87 as the core in the apparatus described in British Patent 1,100,430 at extruder temperatures of 275-285‹ C. for the core, 260-270‹ C. for the sheath, 290‹ C. for the pack at a wind-up speed of 4000 feet/min., in sheath to core ratios of 1 : 5À7 to 1 : 7À3. The spun yarn was drawn using a hot roll at 90‹ C. and a plate at 165‹ C. in a draw ratio of 3À22 to 1 and a draw rate of 2044 feet/min., the drawn yarn having a tenacity in the range 5À5 to 5À7 g.p.d. |
