Condenser plate hole partitioning - involves forming adjacent holes which have throats placed in communication by hydraulic pressure tool

The method is for positioning tubular condenser plates pierced with holes, each of which has a throat, in communication with an adjoining throat. This admits demineralised pressurised water. The throats are initially in two adjacent holes, formed of diameter leaving a small thickness of metal. In one throat (22), using a special tool (30), sealing is provided for each end of the hole by high hydraulic pressure to destroy the thin division (29) and place the two throats (22,23) in communication. The operation is then repeated successively for all the holes.
