PURPOSE:To enable detection of the engagement of gears throughout the almost entire length engagement of each gear by removing the teeth of a master gear intermittently and driving a measuring gear by the remaining teeth. CONSTITUTION:The master gear engaging with the measuring gear at a prescribed ratio of engagement is prepared. The teeth of the master gear are removed intermittently and the measuring gear is driven by the remaining teeth of the master gear so as to record the state of the engagement throughout the entire length of the engagement of each tooth of the measuring gear. Moreover, the teeth of the measuring gear which do not contact with the remaining teeth of the master geat at the first rotation are made to contact therewith without fail at the folloing rotations. That is, when the master gear 10 removed of teeth a ... a thereof is rotated at a fixed speed and the measuring gear 11 is driven by the remaining teeth b... b, an engagement curve G1 is obtained at the first one rotation and then another curve G2 is obtained at the following one rotation sequentially. These curves G1, G2... represent correctly the state of the engagement throughout the almost entire range of the engagement length l of each tooth (c) of the measuring gear 11. |
