Title compds. (I; R1 = C5-10 alkyl, C5-10 alkenyl, C5-8 cycloalkyl, or C5-8 cycloalkenyl; R2 = H or C1-4 alkyl; R3 = C1-4 alkyl) useful as an intermediate for synthesis of hexahydrodibenzopyranone, were manufd. by reaction of 1-alkoxy-4-(1-hydroxy-1-methylethyl)-1,4-cyclohexadiene and 5-substituted resorcine in the presence of catalyst such as boron trifluoride, boron tribromide or zinc chloride.
