1386918 Silage additive comprising urea and mineral materials UNIE VAN KUNSTMESTFABRIEKEN B V 19 June 1973 [23 June 1972] 29074/73 Heading A2B A prilled additive for maize silage contains urea and mineral constituents in a weight ratio of 2:3 to 3:2, the said mineral constituents containing 54 to 66% by wt of dicalcium phosphate; 18-22% by wt of sodium chloride, the balance comprising sulphates or carbonates of Na and Mg together with sulphates, oxides or carbonates of Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu, and/or Co, and said additive is formed by homogenously mixing the mineral constituents with the desired amount of molten urea and prilling the resultant suspension in a prilling apparatus using spraying and cooling steps wherein the said steps are carried out sufficiently rapidly so that not more than 1/3 of the sodium chloride dissolves in the urea. For example a time of not more than 7 secs is employed. The sodium chloride may be added last to the molten urea, and the mineral salts used may be employed in their anhydrous form. |
